When Kristopher got to Fresno Area Express (FAX), things were a mess from a project management perspective. The portfolio was up to 7 years behind schedule on several projects, not tracking risks at all, had no managerial system so the PMs reported directly to the CEO, and despite being a "large" transit operator was only operating a capital budget around $55 million. By the time Kristopher left FAX, all projects were either back on schedule or completed, the capital portfolio had doubled to $110 million, a new management structure was in place, a risk tracking system was in place, a new weekly reporting cadence had been established, executive leadership had a Red-Amber-Green (RAG) dashboard to consult for updates and key decisions, and the team had actually shrunk in size (due to natural attrition, no PMs were harmed in the making of this case study). Kristopher garnered several national speaking engagements for his work with FAX and turned their capital team into one of the preeminent examples in transportation.
